Thanks for the replies. The speakers aren't going into the entertainment, just next to it. I just don't have the room to also place a sub there.
Running cable for different sub placement would involve cutting sheetrock (because of design of walls/ceiling) and a run of about 30'. Not an option...
My fiancé got tired of my cinder blocks and pine boards and made me get an entertainment center. :)
Problem is that there is not enough room left over. The only way to get things to fit was to put my right speaker on top of the sub. What's the general consensus on speakers with built-in subs...
Right now my main speakers are 4 ohm. I have a Sony 900ES so I have the 4/8 ohm switch set to 4. I have been looking at new receivers and only Sony and JVC offer the 4/8 ohm switch. Will I harm the speakers if I purchase a receiver that runs at 8 ohms? The speakers will be replaced in the future...
Thank you. Another question. I have a choice of using RCA, Component, or Digital to hook up my DVD player to the receiver. Which gives the best picture quailty and do component and digital carry the audio signal as well? Thanks again.
I am looking to buy a new receiver. One I am looking at is 6.1 but I am only going to use it as a 5.1 system. I assume it will work as such, I just don't hook up the 6th channel. Is that correct? Thanks.
This has probably been asked before but I searched and didn't find an answer.
I have an older Sony 900ES receiver that only does Pro Logic. Can I upgrade to DD without replacing the receiver?
If so, would it also cover DTS? Thanks.
