Pioneer Elite 45TX - Volume question

Steve, Thanks for the suggestions. I will test the volume levels with my SPL meter. I'm also wondering about the possibility of phase cancellation. Steve V.

Pioneer Elite 45TX - Volume question

I've had a 45TX for about 6 months now. Up until recently, normal listening levels (i.e., with my wife in the room!) were in the 36-33db range - maybe 30. By-myself levels were 27-24db, maybe 21-18db if I was going for broke. About a month ago, I changed my sub (built an Infinite baffle)...

"Thump" when I change inputs, etc. - ???

One additional thing, before I got the sub built, I tested the Bryston on my mains, using the Pioneer's pre-outs. I got the same thing. But again, this did not happen with my powered Paradigm sub. ??? Steve V.

"Thump" when I change inputs, etc. - ???

I just built a subwoofer and bought a used Bryston 4B to power it. (I'm using a Pioneer Elite 45TX receiver). Now, when I power on & off (on the receiver), change inputs and mute, I get a "thump" from my sub. This did not happen with my internally powered Paradigm sub that I had been using. All...

    SPL meter as mic

Thanks! I've decided to pursue a different speaker package (i.e., cheaper), so that will free up some money for a dedicated mic & preamp. I would still like to get a RS SPL meter. I'm assuming the digital is best - especially if I will also have analyzing software.

    SPL meter as mic

I've looked at the links on the Sonotube page. The FAQ on equalizing with a BFD uses Acoustisot ETF. Another link allows a free trial of Spectra software. The corresponding link for Radio Shack SPL meter correction values is no longer active. Yet another link lists RS meter correction values. My...

What are some of the best looking 5.1 speakers?

I've got one that has not been mentioned yet: Soundline Audio. They use the B/G ribbons, and in my opinion, make them look even better. You can find them at: Link Removed They are direct-order, and little known. John Kotches of "Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity" (an online review...

Looking to buy a new receiver

I had an older Yamaha (595 - I think). I felt it was a little bright. I got rid of it when I found a great deal on a Harmon Kardon 7000. The Logic 7 on HK receivers is not as flexible as it is on Lexicon pre/pros, but it is a nice way to listen to 2-channel CD. I would definitely want either...
