I got the venner at home depot, 24"X48" sheets for $10 a pop, 3 of em total, its flat black and real heavy duty, couldnt be happier with it. the cement and J-Roller were all in the same little section, so it made that trip very easy, swung by the tool section and picked up a laminate bit for my...
actually its 3/4" MDF, the front baffle is 1.5" Thick (Laminated (2) 3/4" pieces together, ~22.5" cubed, 142.5L...the thing weighs a ton, I wouldnt want to be under one of those spikes :)
Its very solid though, no rattleing...except the walls ;)
the dowels were supprisingly easy, they sell expensive dowel jigs out there but all I used were these two little spikes that came in a $5 kit from Home depot Pictured HERE. For my router all I bought was a circle jig, double fluted laminate flush trim bit and a straight cut bit. I like the...
well, I am finally done, over a month of contructing because of finding time to work on it. I am very pleased how it turned out, sounds amazing, just need to run a few tests on it.
A few questions, is there anyway and can actually test the sub to see what its actually tuned to?
Here is the...
thanks, look like I will go with front firing, i was thinking about goingthat way but just wanted to make sure that the shiva could be mounted in that way, will I loose much from having it front firing? I have a grill for the sub and maybe will make a cloth speaker type grill for it, thanks...
I would like t o know too since I was planning on putting the PE spikes on the sub, would that leave it with enough clearance for a downfiring sub? If not, would the disign Im building allow me to turn the sub on its side and make it a front firing sub? Thanks! PS thanks everyone for there...
OK, Ive found out where this problem is stemming from, might need a little testing by people that have the disc. Pretty much the inifilm feature is messing things up, doesnt matter if the feature is enabled or not. If you are watching the film without inifilm on you are unable to pause, ff...
I know what you mean about the blade ;) You should have seen the table saw I cut it on, it should be in a museum :)
Thanks for the feedback and the advice about the lining!

hello, I just have another question in regards to the small harware that will be needed for this sub (142.5L shiva 4" ported)
what size bolts would I need to fasten the shiva? how many?
also T-Nuts, abviously the same size as the bolts..lol :)

Great, thanks! I just found out that I have a table saw in the basement of my house...lol...its my girlfriends brothers. Doesnt mind me using it at all.
Thanks for the advice
PS. I ended up getting the 2X4 sheets of MDF, couldn't fit the big sheet in my jeep, paid a little more in the long...
Well, I went to Home Depot last night and picked up my MDF. I just have a question: The only real saw that I have to rip down the MDF is a circular saw, will this be good enough to rip it down? Will it make nice clean cuts, should I use a certain blade for it? Thanks! jon
Thanks for all the great input guys. Based on what I have been reading here it looks like I should stay with the vented box and use the shiva. I think Im going to go with the 142.5L box that adire has in there plans. (p.20) Ive never built a box sub before, only the sonosub. Does the same...
Hello everyone. I think my next project over the beginning of the winter is building myself a new sub. About 2 years ago I built a sonosub with a Tempest sub, it was a dual 4" ported downfiring sub tuned to about 19hz powered by a ~150watt Soundstream M1 monoblock THX amp.
I was very pleased...
