Just wanted to drop Kudos to Warners on their chat and its details, truly the best studio when it comes to preserving their films and rights and taking care of their fan's interests. Biggest news for me was the old detectives including Charlie Chan, The Falcon, The Saint and Perry Mason...
Not trying to be sarcastic, but I swear Fox must have made a mistake in actually releasing a series detective from the 1940s ;) Anyhow, I would love to see many more of them as this is not even the best of the series! And, please bring on Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto!! Tom D.
Steve As always, your posts are on target,BUT remember we are still dealing with FOX and all of their idiotic thoughts and ramblings with regard to Mr. Moto and Charlie Chan. AS I have posted on here for 2 years, their is not logical or monetary reason not to release these films, they...
This topic and Fox's pig headedness makes me disgusted. How in the !!!! can 48 Bowery Boys films make it to release before Charlie Chan?????? Next thing you know, Warners will announce they are releasing the 11 Charlie Chan films they own before Fox. Unbelievable is about the only way to...
Update to this thread, it is now being reported that there may be a "rights" issue to the Chan films for dvd distribution. Now, this one is way out of my ballpark, my question is how can a studio lose distribution rights to films they own????
Patrick, excellent idea, except Anchor Bay has approached along with MPI and one other I cannot remember, this is all taken from quotes from various classic mystery magazines during the Fox Movie Channel Chan debacle. FOX simply will NOT license them.(as quoted by the studios mentioned above)...
Robert, I just wish the reason Fox will not license them is that they wish to release them down the road, that would be fine by me, but I hope you understand my skepticism about that! Also, the other site was actually Bestbuy.com while I agree that does not represent the brick and mortars, I...
Robert, I was basing my MGM statement on 2 things: 1. Sales rankings on Amazon, Deepdiscountdvd and one other site which escapes me for the moment. And 2. While I cannot quote the individual due to privacy issues, a person who is well respected and heavily involved in the movie industry...
Time to get on my soapbox again. Will Fox ever listen to their classic mystery fans and release the Charlie Chan series and the Mr. Moto series starring Peter Lorre?? They should take notes from MGM here in America(despite Fox's bogus statement, MGM MADE MONEY on the Chan set they released!)...
You will be pleasantly surprised to know that Miami Vice is slated for dvd release (see tvshowsondvd website). I also believe some of the original music will be replaced much like Wiseguy dvds and Dawson's Creek to name a few. While I am excited to get this on dvd, I am sure there will be some...
I have been wondering the same thing and like you have sent quite a few emails. I hope Anchor Bay does release the 2nd season, it is terrible advertising to say you are releasing the complete Crime Story and then never follow through, leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Anchor Bay. Tom
Great post, I agree, The Magician was a great show and you are correct that it sells quite well on ebay. I hope Paramount listens more than Fox does. I have been making a similar point regarding Charlie Chan/Mr. Moto series of films at fox. Hopefully the studios will start paying attention to...
Just wanted to update my post with the latest Charlie Chan Chanthology DVD Sales Rankings: Deep Discount DVD - 18th best seeler DVD Empire - 22nd best seller Amazon - 59th best seller It appears like the Fox executive would have "kept his shirt". You goofed up Fox Boy oh...
Steve, could not agree more. I believe if what I have seen is correct is that MGM is doing pretty good business with this DVD release of Charlie Chan. C'mon Fox, follow their lead!!! As you said, Fox stands to do really good business, since they restored their films and they are the best...
