Is there enough resolution in the original negatives to take advantage of 4k vs. HD?

Reading here that the "Coppola Restorations" blu-rays were a little too red drives me crazy. I paid good money for them, and they were supposed to be the definitive edition, representative of a very careful restoration... Why the hell were they too red??? Do we have to buy the movie once again...

I recently bought and watched Kino's blu ray edition of Three Women, directed by Ernst Lubitsch. I really enjoyed the film! Because of some negative comments I had heard, I was expecting a minor or even boring Lubitsch, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I was entertained all the way...

Although the color timing seems correct in the Warner Blu Ray, where the Lionsgate disc was way too blue, I'd say that the shadow detail was better in the UK edition, dark areas don't look as crushed in it as they do in the US disc.

It's interesting, I liked the Director's Cut. I watched it before I watched the theatrical version, and the latter one seemed to me hollower by comparison, story-wise.

The first reel looked far worse than the rest of the movie in the DVD. Did they use a better source for that for this restoration?
