Pioneer VSX-1022 and Windows 7 PC - 5.1 sound from stereo sources possible???

It's connected via HDMI. Like I said, true Dolby 5.1 sources work fine, but all I want is to get stereo to "simulated" 5.1 I'm watching YouTube through my PS3 right now (which I believe is a stereo source as well) and I hit the "ALC/Standard" button, and BAM, does exactly what I'm looking...

Pioneer VSX-1022 and Windows 7 PC - 5.1 sound from stereo sources possible???

Can you elaborate? I also tried the "Signal Sel" button (#3 button on the lower part of the remote), and it cycles through three different Dolby modes, but nothing plays while in the Dolby mode.

Pioneer VSX-1022 and Windows 7 PC - 5.1 sound from stereo sources possible???

Hey all, so a question here. Been pulling my hair out over the past few days trying to solve this dilemma. I have my laptop (Windows 7, 64-bit) hooked up to the VSX-1022 through HDMI to pass through surround sound. I have tested it with these videos...

What is the difference between a $17 and a $150 HDMI cable?

I get all of mine from Five Below. $5, no issues and well made. Can't complain.

    New guy here from PA

Just wanted to introduce myself. Been out of the A/V "game" for a while, but these forums reignited something . . . not sure if that's good or bad, but it's a bad thing for my wallet lol. Looking to build up an entry level home theater. I'm not an audiophile, and don't make crazy money (CADD...

    Harman Kardon AVR 2650 Opinions???

Just solved my dilema. Best Buy has AVR 1700 on sale for $299. After 4 year geek squad protection, tax, and a little left over credit from a gift card, total came to $350ish. Ordered it and will pick it up in store tomorrow. Hopefully the girlfriend doesn't kill me lol.

    Harman Kardon AVR 2650 Opinions???

Will these be able to do audio through HDMI? Didn't see anything in the description about that. The 1700 is definitely appealing though. EDIT: nevermind, just watched the video on their site and it does support HDMI audio.

    Harman Kardon AVR 2650 Opinions???

Thanks for the info Sam. Can you link me to some info on the X700 etc? And I'm not too worried about composite video. Basically all of my content (Netflix and Blu Ray) is viewed through my PS3. Primarily looking for the sound quality, ability to push my Jamo S426's that should be here Friday...

    Harman Kardon AVR 2650 Opinions???

Hey all, newbie here. Been lurking around for the past few days, and decided to join in. So I have a four year old H/K AVR 154 that I'm looking to possibly upgrade. The 30w per channel power output is on the low side obviously, and the lack of HDMI audio is getting old. I would also like...
