I haven't heard them myself but Elemental Designs is an automotive audio company which has recently moved into home audio. Their subwoofers are very competitively priced and seem to have gotten primarily kind words from users on their own forums. I haven't seen anyone mention them here or...
I bought the unit a couple-few months ago from AC4L.com a refurb'ed unit with the 1yr warranty. It is presently hooked up to my pc (coax digital), a pair of speakers and powered subwoofer. It worked fine out of the box, but within a week I turned it on and got no auditory output from either...
This is sounding like what I expected, that using the DAC in the sound card output to an integrated amp won't outperform digital out to an AVR (what I presently have running to the Kenwood). If I'm doing digital out, there's no real reason to upgrade the sound card right?
Hi all, this is about playing stereo mp3 from a pc. Posted this in Rec/Seps/Amps but didn't get all I hoped for... this might be the proper place. I've just gotta replace the old Kenwood VR-357 receiver I bought refurb'd 8ish years ago. My Question: Would an integrated amp like a Marantz...
The rotel int-amps were/are very attractive to me as I liked the rotel sound when I was auditioning back in college. That said, I don't know of a rotel (or other) integrated amp that takes digital in. I think my only option with that situation would be to use a Y-splitter from my PC for its...
Hi all, Long time since I've posted here but I've just gotta replace the old Kenwood VR-357 receiver I bought refurb'd 8ish years ago. My S38's want better. Presently I'm in a studio apt. My thinking was to get an integrated amp/stereo receiver (i do listen to FM) with A/B for PC music &...
I have a JBL studio setup, using a Kenwood VR-357 (same as 307) that sounds like its pretty similar to yours. The center channel is dead on it and now I'm looking for a replacement... I took home a Pioneer Elite 45tx and was wowed by how much the sound opened up, and was more dynamic. I don't...
Have you considered a separate amplifier? It would seem to me that if you are looking for upgradability, a decent 2ch amp would allow you to retain at least some of your investment when you get to a surround setup. I have no idea what the costs are for stereo pre-amps, tho. I suppose you could...
Can someone please explain to me how co-ax can possibly sound better than optical for passing a digital signal to the receiver's DACs? I understand perhaps a preference for the durability of coax, but are people trying to tell me that the 10001010110101 put into either cable at one end will come...
Bump, cause this is a time-sensitive decision... Would the MM9000 be a noticable difference over an SR5400's amp section in my relatively small rooms? and would this combo be outclassed in sound quality by a Rotel 1056?
