This thread created a lively discussion, so glad to see!
Reading through the comments it becomes quite clear that even mid level HT is a pretty niche market. I always figured there were lots and lots of people out there who had some semblance of a HT but that seems like wishful thinking at...
I recently walked into my local Best Buy (Victoria, Canada) and noticed a few things:
Basically no AV amplifiers for sale, there might have been 3 Onkyo for sale but nthing else
No Home Theater Room - pretty much completely dismantled, no TV, Amps to try, speakers etc.
No movies to buy except...
Just picked this up. Does the extra 14 minutes make it better? I have not heard a lot of positive things about this. One poster said it was better than Lost World which is not exactly high praise...
Maybe, if someone here is in the industry, the studios could create some sort of single disk or download situation where 3d enthusiasts such as ourlseves, could buy a download of the 3d version. I assume, if a title was released in 3d, then there is a digital 3d file. Is that same file not...
Nice to see people are still keeping the 3d dream alive! I had the pleasure of watching Beauty and the Beast (cartoon version) in 3d last night and it was truly a joyful experience. I found the 3d to be a bit choppy but overall the experience was magical and added a real level of depth to the...
As an outside observer of the 4K world who is waiting until 4K projectors start getting down into my price range, I am curious if every UHD disc gets the Dolby Atmos DTS:X treatment? And if so, are these soundtracks all remastered from the original mono (I am assuming a lot of films on this...
Hi,
I own a Yamaha RxV1083. Terrific Receiver.
I am mystified by one thing though. How do I know if I am receiving an ATMOS signal? Back in the old days a little icon would light up on my receiver to tell me it was receiving DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1 etc..
I run the majority of my home...
I am in Canada where it is $75 and not actually sold at Walmart. In fact, I don't think Walmart here has any 3d movies anymore or many movies at all. I was in Best Buy today and they have 1 small aisle of movies consisting of mostly Marvel titles and new releases. Slim pickings to say the...
Thanks for the input. I cannot imagine making the first Hobbit longer could somehow miraculously save it. I only saw it once theatrically and someone gave me a copy of it on blu ray that I don't recall ever watching again. I did however truly enjoy 2 and 3. My thoughts at the time were The...
Hi, Jumping in on the Hobbit discussion - are the extended versions really that good or different? I found the Hobbit Pt 1 tediously long in the Theater but loved the other two films and own them both on 3d blu ray. I would consider blind purchasing the extended 3d on recommendations from the...
If anyone has a region free player and is interested in a Copy of T2 in 3d (my bad, didn't check the region coding and won't play in my player or my xbox one), drop me a PM and we can arrange something.
OK, good to see there are still some advertising in the US. My point is that physical media has basically died here at least from an advertising enticement to get you into the store scenario. There is still a small (and getting smaller all the time) section for Physical media but it is...
Reviewing my local BB and Wal-mart Black Friday flyer i was shocked to see absolutely no ads for Bluray titles (DVD, UHD etc too), not one.
I live in western Canada and I remember even last year there was at least a page of deals but this weeks flyer, NOTHING.
Are other areas seeing this as...
