It's a ways away, but there you have it. Also, at least for Canadian buyers, if you get Seasons 5,6, and 7 before Dec 31, 2003, you will also get a 30 dollar rebate. Considering it'll be almost 800 bucks CAD by the time I'm done with NG and then starting with DS9...

Sorry, I thought the thread header was self-explanatory. Look for DS9 Season One on Feb 25, 2003. BTW, please don't yell at me, I'm only a messenger...I want it earlier too!

He's saying: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 is coming Feb 25, 2003. Canadian Buyers: If you buy Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 5, Season 6, and Season 7 before December 30, 2003 you will receive a $30 rebate. Considering it will be 800 CAD when I'm done with TNG, then starting DS9....

GREAT news!

Can you provide any kind of information regarding where you got this information?

I hope to see an official press release from Paramount soon, but this year, Paramount announced the TNG DVDs in January, and released in March, so perhaps for DS9, there will be a press release in December and a DVD relase in February?

I hope so...

End of February makes sense - it's two months after TNG Seaosn Seven and will also give Paramount an extra month to space out the last three seasons a little more than they were able to for TNG (unless there is an equal amount of time between the release for each DS9 season).

This is one set that I have been waiting for since the originals started coming out. I can wait a half year(like I have a choice).
This is the best news I have heard all weekend

I would take Mr. Overduin's info with a considerably large grain of salt until either Mr Blythe chips in with confirmation or until Paramount provides an official "Press Release". I want the sets as soon as possible too, but this seems to good to be true, & most things that are too good to be true tend to be false. I'll wait for OFFICIAL confirmation if you please!

I got it via an email. Re C&L Club; while their prices are quite high compared to retail, they have in the past had the scoop on titles well before anyone else and were correct. So, their info is usually quite reliable. They are also a wholesaler/distributor so they deal directly with studios. Thus, while they are an etailer in the normal sense of the word, they also act as a distributor for DVD product to other retailers. This would not be the first time they accurately forecast the date for a release. Just be careful when you order from them. They have the most bizarre policies of anyone.

How is this news "too good to be true"? I thought the ongoing word from Paramount had been that DS9 was next up in 2003 after the TNG sets were finished. This date sounds about right from what we had been hearing before.

In any case, these will be mine on street date!

I can confirm the sets are in production. In case anyone is wondering, seasons 5,6,7 are the Dominion War, probably the greatest 3 seasons of sci-fi television ever filmed IMO

DS9 is the Trek I've been waiting for on DVD. It's bolder, darker and actually has a story arc over the various seasons (much like B5) unlike TNG and the shambling mediocrity that is Voyager. Regardez:

Trek exec #1:"Voyager's ratings are down. What do we do?"
Trek exec #2:"We'll introduce a gorgeous blonde in a skintight lycra suit."
Trek exec #1:"Bingo! And as for her character, we'll just recycle the same Mr.Spock/Data 'fish out of water/trying to be more human' crap! It's PERFECT!!"

I know that's off topic, but I just want to reiterate how much I love DS9 - and how about those glorious space battles in 5.1? I cannae wait!!

My second or first, personal favorite TV show opening!
Great visuals [being inside the comets tail is too cool] & sound effects [also love the 'sparkling' sound the particles from the comet make].
Great theme music as well, which seemed to me too change just a tad, with additional instruments [along, with different visual effects, with the adding of The Defiant, etc...].
First or second fave is Voyager. Great, great visuals. Going though the rings sound effect is so detailed, you can hear each and every piece of debris as you pass though the belt. As well as the refection of the ship in the rings as it fly's above. The detail of the rock on the moon as the ship does a fly by, bottom left to top right, is as 'good' as the rock in the opening of A Bug's Life. With gas clouds 'fuming' different colors in the top of the picture. And of coarse the blue/green cloud field they blast right though. Turning the gas to yellow. Great stuff.
Do enjoy the theme of DS9 better though.
Can't wait to see it all in 480p!
Would love a chance to hear it in PCM, or DVD-A, or DTS 24/96!
But alas, not enough space [pun intended]!
Movies are: "The Greatest Artform".
HD should be for EVERYONE!

Of all the Trek series, DS9 is my absolute favourite of all of them. The series started off well enough but really got better with each season. The Dominion War storyline was IMHO the most engaging storyline that ever appeared in a science fiction series.....I especially cannot wait for these particular seasons. Late february sounds about right for DS9's release. Looking forward to it.Posted Image
