Has anyone ever built their own projector, if so how did it turn out?
I am just getting started with mine , using a Sharp LCD .
I'm looking for a good source for a lens.
Any help would be great.

Could you explain in more detail what exactly you are doing? You meniton the Sharp LCD. Is that a DIY you purchased to build a Sharpvision LCD projector.
Your's is about the 5th request I have seen inquiring about DIY projectors but I am unsure what the outcomes have been in those other 4 cases.
Try doing a search using the keywords "DIY projector". Perhaps an e-mail to those individuals will yield some answers.
for example....

The sharp LCD screen I'm using is normally used on an overhead projector, used in a business presentation, I am going to use it in a cabinet with a 400watt metal halite bulb as a light source. the one I am using is a sharp qa-1750, comes with an S-video input as well as a RGB input.
It features a10.4 inch diag. lcd screen. I have found several references to this set-up but can;t seem to locate any plans so i guess I'll use trial and error until I get it right, from the pictures I have seem on the web, it looks fabulous.
from what I understand all total should cost around 300 to 500 hundred to build.

Any luck with this? I always have such high hopes for these DIY projector projects since I don't have the 3-5k for a real one. Unfortunately I think every attempt has failed.

This project would be way over my head, but Link Removed has a projector assembly for $50.

I saw in their catalog I got in the mail the other day. Maybe you can find a use?
