does anybody know if acoustech labs speakers are any good ,I was given them along with a jvc receiver. I am trying to hook it up as a surround sound

You don't say which Acoustech speakers you have, but they make a decent entry level loudspeaker. Hook them up and enjoy!

I already mounted them , and they sound decent to me, although I can only get them to work with te dvd and fm radio , cant get sound from my Samsung tv through the surround

What is your setup? Do you have the TV "source" going directly to the TV or is it going to the JVC receiver? If going to the TV, how is the TV hooked up to the receiver? You need "ARC" (Audio Return Channel) on both the TV and receiver if your "source" is going to the TV (but if so - why?, why not to the JVC). Need more info on your hookup to help more.
