The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thank you for the RoundUp, Mike. Some really good titles this week.

I'll have the review for Impromptu tomorrow, and I signed up to review Southpaw, but the review disc has not arrived. And, of course, we're all still waiting for Twilight Time releases, too, which should get here this week.

Thanks for the prices. I got the two Bronson titles ordered. I also ordered ARMY OF DARKNESS. I'm not a big fan but at $18 I'm curious in the extras.

I'll probably rent TRUE TERROR: THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. I watched a few of the director's other documentaries and they're extremely cheap but entertaining.

I've got Mulholland Drive pre-ordered from Amazon ($22.49 when Amazon was price-matching someone else's sale a while back!). Also, My Fair Lady.

And...Amazon is now telling me my pre-order of Witness will be delivered Tuesday as well.

And, I think I might just pick up that new Katy Perry blu-ray, too! I hope Amazon matches the Best Buy price of $13.99.

=======================

And, as always folks...thanks for the likes on the OP. Each and every one is appreciated.

Thanks, as always, Mike. Nothing for me this week...we came home with PLENTY of swag from a week at Disneyland.

Next week is a different matter, though...

Probably the most expensive week ever for me, with My Fair Lady, The Special Effects Collection, and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries Season 3, which by the way Mike is missing from your lineup. :(

Mark,

A reminder that such titles might be listed in the Blu-ray Preorder Listing I maintain for the forum.

Thanks, Mike. For the first time in a long while, there are actually more than a couple of items coming my way. I have Mulholland Drive, My Fair Lady and Them! all on pre-order.

Thanks for your work, Mike. That being said, nothing for me this week. I want My Fair Lady, but not at that ridiculous price, so it and Monty Python and the Holy Grail will enter my collection post-price drops.

Looking forward to "My Fair Lady" --- had it on preorder from Amazon for a year!

As to the "Sonic Screwdriver" in the Dr Who Christmas Package: It's obsolete now! As of Season 9 (New Series) the Doctor has replaced the Sonic Screwdriver functionality with a "wearable" : Cosmic Sunglasses!

I sent Amazon an email asking if they were going to price-match the advertised Best Buy price of $13.99 on the Katy Perry release on Friday.

Their response makes me believe it was quite effective:

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us about your concern and letting us to serve you.

I understand your concern regarding the price match for your item "The Prismatic World Tour (Blu-ray)". Surely I'll help you with the best.

We appreciate your business and support. We recognize that you have a choice of retailers and we are pleased that you've preferred to order from us. We do consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.

To help you completely from my end, As an exception, I've edited the price of the item to the currently-listed price of $13.99 from $17.98. This is what you'll be charged for the item according to your shipping option which is two-day shipping.

They sent a link to my adjusted order and the $13.99 price is now available on Amazon.

Good service.

Now if only they would drop the price on MFL!

I got an email from Barnes & Noble advertising the Dr. Who set on DVD for $40.79 (with "twelfth Doctor sonic screwdriver -- not sure which one was #12 :) ).

I guess the Blu edition is exclusive to Best Buy.

FWIW, I saw Pixels in 2D because I didn't want to spend the 3D premium on a movie that was getting so trashed by the critics, and wound up regretting it. It wasn't a bad movie, and there were a few scenes that I thought would have been great in 3D. (Target.com is listing $18.99 for the DVD and $24.99 for the BD; I guess the sale prices won't take effect until Tuesday.)

I don;t think it is exclusive. The current DW (Peter Capaldi) is unofficially #12 as I understand the fan numbering

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-doctor-who-christmas-specials-gift-set/29150574?ean=0883929525065

Once the 50% British TV sale goes live in December (I'm assuming a new release item should qualify). As I understand all of these specials are part of the Complete Series sets, but the Gift Set has some appeal anyway and until Series 1-4 are released in the US separately there is some current
effectiveness anyway. My not be worth it to me for $40-50 but if it slips to less than $20 I might bite

EDIT POST: BBY will have the Bluray set on Oct 27, wide release of what appears to be the same set will be Nov 24.

Thanks so much for this Mike!! I had no idea this was even getting released, and at that price for the blu, it's a no brainer. Saw this concert live and it was awesome.
