Hi everyone,

So I'm trying to build a budget 5.1 System and really need to know what receiver to go with.. I have a Denon X-1200 from 2015 right in front of me, but since my budget is $2000 total with speakers, I feel like purchasing this Denon-X1200 at $530 is too big of a chunk when I could put the other couple of hundred if I got a 2014 model into the speaker system.

I have a 4K TV so it is important that I get a setup that will allow me to watch 4K blu-rays in the near future.

I was looking at the 2014 Denon models and they don't seem to have the hdcp 2.2 like the new ones.. I know last years Onkyos had the hdcp 2.2.

I really like the sound out of the Denon X-1200, but I'm open to last years models, different brands of 2015, or maybe a step down on this Denon X-1200 for this year.

Can someone please explain what would be my best bang for buck as far as receiver goes that has 4K and hdcp 2.2 and decodes the lossless audio formats.

Also, I really like the Audessey setup on this Denon X1200. It was easy and I have heard Onkyos setup isn't as good since they went away with Audessey.

Thanks

The only, at all, 2014 AVR you can buy...are Onkyo.

Also, 2014 Onkyo are really "HDMI 1.4 with HDCP". Meaning you won't get HDR or HFR(or something. I've forgotten most of this since this all was discussed, to death, this time last year).

You bought a brand spanking new 4k with current specs.

You have to have a 2015 AVR to go along with your 2015 and beyond 4k HDCP content/sources.

Can I step down to the 2015 Onkyo 444 7.1 or 2015 Denon S510BT 5.2? Will the Denon S10BT still have Audssey for setup and will I lose out on anything by going with that one over my current receiver?

The Denon S510BT will still have Audyssey MultEQ but the X1200W has a more advanced MultiEQ XT

I ended up going with the 1200w 2015 model. I didn't want to take chances of 4k not working.

The 1200 will also be able to process DTS: X encoded movies with a free firmware upgrade, no older model will do that.
