I've been lurking around this forum, and have found the depth of knowledge great. So, I thought I would ask the group for some opinions on what I am planning to get some perspective. It seems that there are more than a few brands that can deliver great bang for the buck performance. I am building a home theater in my basement that measures about 16x24, though after the 24' length, it is fairly open (so, no enclosed space) Here's what I'm considering:

120 inch Vutek Silverstar Active 3D screen

Epson 5030UB projector

Pioneer Elite VSX-42 (I already own this)

EMP tek R56ci Center channel

2 EMP tek R55ti towers for R and L front

2 HSU STF-2 subwoofers

RBH Inwalls for surround and rears

I will hav a cabinet maker make a cabinet to place the center, front right and left and subs in. However, there will be about 3 feet of space behind this open as access to a utility panel, and to make hooking all this up easier. I will have speaker cloth on the outside of these shelves and leave the back open as I have heard this is especially important when using rear ported speakers. This seems to be a pretty nice set up from my research, and likely beats the full "in-wall" solution my builder's guy recommended. I have also considered Kef, Klipsch, and Aperion towers. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I don't want an AT screen because I'm afraid it might degrade the picture and sound quality. My first row is about 11 ft. What about the speakers and receiver combo?

Woven AT screens, typically, don't degrade sound quality. My screen(Screen Research ClearPix) has zero attenuation. You can't tell when it is up or down.

Perf AT do have attenuation.

At 11ft "pixel" and moire are non-issue...even on a cheap woven.

My screen has none of either even looking at 2 feet.

I don't know how good the Elite AcousticPro is. Never seen one.

Klipsch tends to be every efficient: don't need massive amount of amperage to drive them, but they also tend to be bright sounding. I'd make sure this particular sonic signature is to your liking before committing.

My room is 12x24 (approximately) and completely closed off from the rest of the house. I use dual 15's and want more. Do you really think that dual 10's will fill your space with 80hz and below with enough SPL?
