I'm looking for information to make a PC home theater system using an old Dell Optiplex 780 usff with windows 7 64 bit. My boys ruin all our dvd's and I'm wanting to burn them onto the optiplex and either stream or play directly to our tv's. I'm having a little trouble figuring out where to start, but I'm going to be browsing the forum topics.

I've never built an htpc but I did successfully train my stepkids to take care of my movies and games. Of course when they first visited I found discs and cases all over the room.

Put the disc back in the case and put the case back on the shelf. It doesn't have to be in alphabetical order. If anything gets scratched or damaged I'll lock the collection up and you will never will never see it again.

If they can't take care of a DVD your computer probably won't last long.

Welcome Brad! I definitely encourage you to make a post in the HTPC forum, it will get a lot more traffic than our intro forum does!
