I recently purchased a pair of used Polk Audio R30 floor-standing speakers to be used for my new computer setup. All I need now is to find a decent (and affordable) amp that can power them. I'm clueless when it comes to amplifiers, but my speakers require 20-150 watts each. I won't be listening to my music at high volumes as I live in a dorm, although I may push medium-ish sound levels from time to time.

I'm not looking to purchase anything fancy in regards to the amplifier itself. I only need something that can give enough power to my speakers, supports two channels, and accepts 3.5mm audio input.

So, if anyone has recommendations to make...please make them.

Speakers don't "need" watts.R30 are reasonably efficient. At a desk, they'll blow you away on 5 watts.Any of the T-amps rated 10-25 watts are plenty.

So it has both 1/4 and 1/8.
I probably should've mentioned this, but I do have 3.5mm to TRS adapters. Thanks for the help, though! I think I'll buy the amp tomorrow, along with some speaker wire and a 6ft 3.5mm auxiliary cable.

No you don't.

You have 1/8 to 1/4 and/or 1/4 to 1/8.

1/4 and 1/8 are both TRS.

And TS(mono) and TRRS*(stereo with video) exist in both 1/4 and 1/8*.

Just for future clarification.

*XBox 1/360 and iPhone/iPod come with a 1/8 TRRS.

1/4 and 1/8 are both TRS.
I've learned something new - before this I have only heard of 1/4" cables referred to as TRS.

Thank you for the update in terminology...I feel kind of silly now. Lol. You've been a ton of help.

At least I can safely say I have 1/8" to 1/4" adapters.
