It's coming to blu-ray this year, as stated by Fox' Mr. Finn on Twitter.
Na, they've been filming on Eastmancolor neg since they stopped three strip Technicolor in the early fifties. The Technicolor dye-transfer prints may have more solid colour than Eastman prints, I don't know, I've never compared the two. The thing is, if they scan the original cut negs, then they're starting from scratch with the colour & look of the film, they can make it look how they like, & it looks like someone thought a bleached-out look is right, well I don't agree, & looking at the net, the Italian Blu doesn't have many fans. As with all releases these days I shall read a few comments before buying, there is a lot of rubbish talked on the net, but there are a few people I trust.Stefan Andersson said:The new resto of Duck You Sucker has been released on Blu in Italy.

Big difference in color between DVD and Blu.

Post 99 briefly discusses prints/DVDs of Duck You Sucker processed by Technicolor vs. Eastmancolor. The poster´s English is halting, but the meaning seems to be that old R1 MGM/UA DVDs are colourful because of Technicolor processing, whereas the OCN is in Eastmancolor (= less colourful).
I believe those who know more than me about Technicolor, processing and video transfers will be able to comment on this material.
I looked at the screencaps and they looked blown out. Knowing the inherent problems with screencaps and their methodology, does the transfer look as overexposed as this?haineshisway said:The Italian Blu-ray is a joke - if anyone thinks that is what a Sergio Leone film looks like, they should turn in their Sergio Leone Fan Club cards. It should look like the Italian Blu-ray of A Fistful of Dollars - the DVD releases of Sucker had better and more accurate color than the sorry Italian Blu. But I'm hoping MGM/UA gets it right and uses whatever their source is. Whoever did the "restoration" (sorry, don't know what a "resto" is) in Italy should be ashamed of themselves.
Thanks!Billy Batson said:Amazon Germany has a pre-order for this for June 6th, the same date as The Good The Bad & The Ugly re-do.
Any further news on this one?Osato said:Just curious about the release date. My hope / guess is that this will street with The Man With No Name 4K Trilogy set in June or so?
In June I hope?Noach Kowalski said:It's coming to blu-ray this year, as stated by Fox' Mr. Finn on Twitter.
What is the timeframe for the release then? It would be great to have some more information.Noach Kowalski said:It's coming to blu-ray this year, as stated by Fox' Mr. Finn on Twitter.
