Amazon now has the Onkyo S5500 for $299, I'm not convinced I need 7.1 but the price is right.  Is it worth it or is there a better system to get my started?

Thanks!

$299 is hard to pass up. Means you'll have a bit of money left over for better fronts(eventually). You can use that 5.1 anyway, just find something else to do with two of them...like pair them up with a computer and power them with this...

Or put them in your kitchen with the above amp to listen to stuff off your phone/ipod.

I decided to order the Onkyo today so went to Amazon and now it's $380...guess it was only $299 for a day!  I guess I need to act quicker next time.
