The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks Mike! The Twilight Time releases for sure, other than that I would love to pick up Chariots of Fire, but I can't justify it at that price.  I will wait for that and Outland to come down in price.

Ouch.  I...couldn't...help...myself.  I got a little excited after reading the reviews from RAH and Cameron.  Now you and I get to wait and see how long it takes for the price to drop.  Posted Image

My other Amazon pre-order this week is Quill: The Life of a Guide Dog.  The trailer looks amazing and Ebert gave it a rave review (with an awesome diss of those stupid animal movies all-the-rage now with CGI mouths on live-action animals making it look like they are talking).  Take a look:

Didn't know about the Circuit City documentary but will check that out. Can I get it on DIVX? I've heard that's a much better value. :P

My copies arrived yesterday, and look magnificent.  Looking forward, of course, to the reviews.

Also looking forward to receiving Coma, et al, which I pre-ordered at -- I think -- $13.99 each.

Aaaawwwww!  Ya know, there are days I think it would be very cool to have a dog around.  But I out-think myself.  I mean, I probably wouldn't be able to take care of another creature (and have it live).  I'm terrible with plants and can be a wee bit selfish some days.  But, really, Mike...you're making a very good case for a pet.  Posted Image

Blade II and Frequency at some point when the price drops.  I don't need them right now, but they are on my radar when I walk into WalMart and see a $7.98 sticker.

If you liked the other American Pie movies, American Reunion is a fun look at the characters today. I don't know if I'll buy it this week (especially with that Barnes And Noble sale on Criterion discs) but I'll get it at some point. Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

Thanks for the Roundup, Mike. I hadn't even realized American Reunion was being released this week. Got the first 3 on dvd & don't see an upgrade coming for those but I think I'll get the combo pack for Reunion. One day they'll have a great blu sale on the original trilogy & I might go for them then.

Mine as well and looks like we have similar tastes in old(er) movies Frequency, Outland, Coma, and Altered States for me.

Thanks for another WRU, Mike!  Haven't been around much of late.  Hope all is well w/ you and the family.

I've been gradually rethinking my approach to purchases/collecting w/in the greater context of stewardship, time, etc.  Tough decisions to make, especially w/ so many titles getting marked <=$10 nowadays (and my inclination... maybe even addiction(!) Posted Image toward bargains).

Hadn't heard about Quills before, but looks like it'd make a great rental for the family though they might end up begging me for a dog as pet again -- we recently started getting them goldfish again, but those poor fishies... Posted Image  And if Quills becomes a hit w/ the family, I might buy it later if/when I find a good price for it.

Will probably pick up Frequency whenever that comes down below $10 -- actually, I suspect it'll come down below $8 before too long (perhaps w/ help from the next DVD-trade-in deal at BB).

Meanwhile, the much anticipated, upcoming B&N 50%-off Criterion Sale will probably put a serious dent in my Discover Card cashback rewards... Posted Image

Cheers!

Coma, Altered States, Frequency, Blade II and Spawn are now $9.99 on Bestbuy.com. Next week's release of Mean Streets is also at that price.

Would be nice to know the prices will be the same next week -- fairly strong rumors and circumstantial evidence that the next (apparently now) "quarterly" Upgrade and Save promotion will start next Sunday.
