The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Doom (Unrated) AND Elizabethtown AND Just Like Heaven AND Waiting… AND Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) ! Also, BE AWARE that BOTH Doom AND Waiting… are being released in MAR-only “rated” versions. STAY AWAY! Posted Image

--PHEW! Another big week…at least in quantity. We’ll see what you guys think of it in terms of quality. Posted Image

--I was without a Circuit City flyer this week as I post the RoundUp. I gathered CC info from various internet sources. It turns out that Just Like Heaven will really clock in at $14.99 at CC. Posted Image

--There are some discrepancies over whether Grounded for Life: Season 1 and MirrorMask are due for release this week. BB’s flyer shows Grounded for Life @ $24.99 and Amazon has it listed for $27.99 but many lists put its release at 2-21-06. Mirrormask is in the CC flyer at $19.99 but is listed in most sites as a 2-14-06 release.

--There is the potential that the Sex and the City collections will be released on Sunday (sted Tuesday). This, if it happens at all, may be a Target-only event.

--K-Mart has its usually informative flyer this week. Elizabethtown - $19.99. Doom, Bambi II, Wallace/Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit – Low Price. Does anyone still shop for DVDs at K-Mart?!

--Best Buy, this week, is offering a 2/$20 deal if you buy BOTH Waiting… ($16.99) and Van Wilder ($9.99). $17 + $10 = $27. $27 - $20 = $7 savings.

--Best Buy is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE ON-PACK BONUS DISC with its copies of Elizabethtown. The list no information about what the disc contains. Minimum 15 per store.

--Best Buy will give you $3 off any Disney DVD INSTANTLY with the purchase of Bambi II ($17.99) at their stores.

--Best Buy is also advertising FREE MOVIE CASH in its flyer with the purchase of the “Thriller Double Feature” 2-pack edition of the Harrison Ford movies Frantic & Presumed Innocent ($6.99). …to see Firewall in theaters 2/10/06 (a $10.50 value). Limit 3 per customer.

--Circuit City is advertising a $10 savings on Valentine’s Day flowers from ftd.com with the purchase of Just Like Heaven ($14.99) at their store.

--Circuit City is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE FREE MOUSE PAD with the purchase of Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

--Circuit City is also offering the opportunity to buy an $8.99 DVD for just $4.99 with the purchase of Bambi II ($19.99). Here is the list of $8.99 DVDs: Funny Factory With Donald, Funny Factory With Mickey, Hocus Pocus, Homeward Bound II, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Spy Kids, Tuck Everlasting.

--CC is also offering you the chance to pick up one of those Sex & the City collections FOR FREE with the purchase of either Volume 1 OR 2 of Sex & the City Season 6 ($34.99 apiece).

--Circuit City also has an EXCLUSIVE BONUS DISC with its copies of Waiting… ($19.99). The ads say the disc contains bloopers from the film’s production.

--I want to make note that Circuit City also is listing an impressive amount and variety of titles in its $9.99, $7.49 and 4/$20 sales this week. TAKE A CLOSE LOOK! Posted Image

--Target is advertising a FREE BOOK with the purchase of Bambi II this week. Items are packaged together. Quantity limited. No rainchecks.

Hey, I am the first post in the roundup for a change. Thanks for posting this every week Mike and your goofy Toy Story 2 signature. Anyway, I didn't realish Teen Titans and "The Batman" came out on dvd this week. Probably get Titans, as I want to get Batman with the Dracula DTV they released a while back.
I need a new signature.

Nothing for me this week...normally I don't say anything, but it seems I have the first reply this time. Never before...probably never again.

But, it's good there's nothing I want...too many DVDs piled up, now (especially the first 3 seasons of X-files now sitting in my floor.)

Definiately going to be picking up Wallace & Grommit and the Teen Titans sets. Probably Breakfast at Tiffanys too.

Are there any more details about the W&G two pack? I've already got two copies of the three older shorts, is this a repackaging of that? No chance of Cracking Contraptions is there?
Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.

This week is looking like Waiting and a stand-up comedy disc that didn't make Mike's cut for the RoundUp:
Posted Image
I was watching some of it tonight on Comedy Central, and he has some pretty funny material. And it's cheap, too - $14.99 MSRP. But you can get it for $10.99 at Amazon, $9.98 at DDD, and $12.99 at CC's site (BB.com is charging full MSRP so I won't even bother with a link).

And rather than paying 30-some dollars for The Best of the Electric Company, I think I'll wait a month and pick up the just-announced Best of the Best of the Electric Company single disc release for $10 on 3/7.

As always, thanks, Mike.

Were-Rabbit, Just Like Heaven & Nutty Professor 1&2 for me at CC. I hope they've got a good Just Like Heaven price. Nutty Professor 1&2 is supposed to be #12.99 (according to the ad posted at another unnamed site). I wasn't a big NP2 fan but at that price for both I can finally replace my Hurricane lost NP with the sequel for less than I paid for the original alone.

In my experience, Target is the biggest pain in the neck this side of Walmart. Not only don't they price match (around here anyway), they don't even have flyers in their stores available to take. They only have one posted in customer service. Obviously, this is their way to hinder price-matching at other places.

Anyway, Wallace and Grommit is the must for me this week. And a big thanks for this thread each week. Its the first thing I read on Sunday morning!

If anyone is looking at getting Moonlighting Season 3, I noticed that DeepDiscountDVD has it for $23.99. Seems like a pretty good deal!

Thanks for the roundup, I always check it out every week!

Hey everybody! You're all very welcome!

I was just thinking about that Just Like Heaven price at CC. Even if they don't have a better price (which I know they will), since they are so good at price-matching...you would do pretty well going in there with your BB or Target flyers! Posted Image

It won't be long before we get the real CC price.

Thanks as usual.

Even though I'm not planning on getting into HD discs for quite a while, it's already got me seriously considering cutting back on my double dipping.

Nevertheless, I may consider the following if reviews indicate significant picture quality improvement:

Breakfast at Tiffany's
The French Connection
MASH

I'll definitely be getting Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Finally, in the unlikely event that either The Awful Truth or Talk of the Town turn out to be fixed versions, I'll pick up the Cary Grant box, otherwise, I'll just wait for Holiday to make it out as an individual release.
