I’m not sure where to put this since it could be an amp discussion, or it could be a speaker discussion. I’m looking for thoughts on how to go about upgrading my system. As is, it has been built a little over a long time and will have to be upgraded as such. What I have now: Marantz SR7000, Denon DVD2900, and Polk RT1000p L/R, Polk CS350, Klipsch surrounds. Yes I know I need a sub first, and that will hopefully come the next month or so. Obviously the DVD is a new upgrade and is staying. I use my gear for music as much if not more than for movies and what I’m looking to do is make the system more musical. I’m looking at making big steps up in speakers, especially the front mains, and taking the plunge in the separates route. So what do I do first? Speakers or Amp? I don’t have the coin to get both pre/pro and amp at the same time, so I’m thinking the Marantz could be the pre/pro for a while. Gear I’m looking at includes the Parasound Halo C2 and A52, Rotel RSP 1098 and RMB 1075, and for speakers the Energy Veritas 2.3 or B& W CDM 9NTs. My credit card awaits your responses.
