The guy that got me into HT had a Velodyne ULD-15 from the late '80s, early '90s. It had a 15" woofer (of course) and was sealed. Its amp was a separate 400w amp. It's a very nice sub, and it sounded very good with his Klipsch speakers.

Anyway, I was just curious how the current crop of subs compare to his. As an example, I've got an original SVS 25-31CS (22Hz tune) powered by a cheap 150w sub amp. First thing I noticed when I got it was that it gave me many of the same tactile sensations that his sub did (in a much, much larger area, to boot).

Now, I'm not comparing my 25-31CS with his Velodyne, but I would like to know how a PB2+ would compare to the big Velo (and my 31CS powered by 150w, as well). My guess is that the PB2 is probably somewhere in the range of 5 or 6 times my sub and 2 or 3 times the Velo. Or, in dBs, I think I could expect 15-20dB more output from the PB2 than my 31CS. Does that seem to be the right range?

I think Tom V recently posted that a PB2+ will have about 4 times the clean output of a Velo CT150.

As for your 25-31CS with the original driver and a 150 watt amp, I would estimate the PB2+ capable of 13-14 dB more clean output at any given frequency above 22-23 Hz.

The difference will be extraordinary, to say the least. Hope this helps.

Ed

Hi Steve,..........In the not to distant past I ran duel Vel ct-150's and I can honestly tell you> You will notice the difference big time. ( You really will! ) I run duel 25-31 CS+'s now and ONE 25-31 Cs+ will perform better than duel ct-150's AND THEN SOME in the lower regions. With the PB2+ coming in close to Duel/Two 25-31 CS+'s >> You would be absolutely mesmerized by the PB2+'s performance. I am being a little on the Conservative side to Because I like Velodyne.
