do I need or can someone recommend for connecting this to the Pioneer 45TX? A local store told me I needed to hook up "both" cables to the sub for better & louder sound? The SVS manual says I don't need to do that........who is correct? Also, won't the pioneer calibrate and setup the sub properly or will I need to do anything extra. This is my first HT & I am getting really excited waiting for the components to arrive. How long does it usually take for SVS to ship their products?

Do not hook up to both jacks, it is not needed and will cost you more $$ for two sub cables. Make sure to set the sub filter bypass switch to Disabled if you are filtering at the Pioneer by setting your speaks to small and the sub to yes (the vast majority of us connect that way).

The only thing connecting a second sub cable does is double the signal strength to the sub plate amp and this in turn adds about 3 dB of volume. The same thing can be accomplished by upping the sub level control at the receiver a few clicks.

Make sure to calibrate with test tones and set the sub channel level to -5 (or thereabouts) and adjust the sub volume at the plate amp.

Regards,

Ed

Should all speakers be set to small.....even though the fronts will be Klipsch RF3II's & the center will be RC3II? Will the receiver calibrate the sub?

I recommend that if you have a large center with 6.5" woofers or larger to set your center to large. The sound is alot more fuller up front.
