inexpensive subwoofer (1 Viewer)

Hello, im looking for a subwoofer to compliment my system. Right now, i own a pair of paradigm titans and a denon receiver. I listen music to movies generally in a ratio of 9:1. I have been looking at the paradigm pdr-8, pdr-10 and the JBl pb-10. My room size is 11 x 11. I dont really have the time nor the skill to make my own subwoofer. If anyone has any suggestions about these subwoofers or any others in the sub $400 price range that would be appreciated. Thanks. Brendan.

How "sub $400" do you need to be? I ask because I'd recommend the Adire Audio Rava, which is $399. If it were still available I'd recommend the Dayton DLS 10" sub for $99 but they aren't.

$399 is a little more than id like to spend. Somewhere around $300 would be more ideal. Thank you though. Any other opinions?

sawm40 is by far the best sub you can get for 100 bucks

i got my first sawm40 for 99.99
and a second one elsewhere for 110.99

and they sound better then subs 3 time what i paid for.

you can find them cheap if you look around, theyre discontinued so you must look hard

but two of these for less then 230 dollars is an awesome deal.

My recommendation at that price point would be the Velodyne CHT-10.

That's fine. Just keep in mind none of the other subs mentioned will touch the Rava so you are definitely getting much more for your money. The added quality will far surpass the extra $100 you've spent on the sub.

Brenden for $300 have you considered the EZSub14 kit that we're talking about here It will have similar perormance to the Rava but is cheaper.

I wasnt really considering the DIY route since im a little leery of buying something i cant hear first. But i will certainly consider the ezsub. im also going to hear the velodyne mentioned later. Has anyone had any experience with the paradigm subs? particularly musically. their subs rarely seem to be mentioned in this forum yet their speakers seem to be hot items here. If anyone has any experience with the paradigm subs or the jbl subs, comments would be appreciated. thanks for all of your replies though.

The JBL powered subs are known to have amplifier problems.

Yes ive heard that. I was figuring if i did get one id buy it from a place with a solid warranty as to not get screwed. Any have any opinions on sound quality?

I forgot about the EZSub14 kit, although I'd expect the Rava to be more "musical" since it should have a lower Q. But I'd still put the EZ sub ahead of any of the others mentioned.
