Wat are some of your favorite stand up comedians out there today. I love stand up and am always looking for new people to check out.
My favorites right now are.

Dane Cook obviously
Dave Attell Hilarious, very dirty.
Kathleen Madigan One of the few female comedians that I like alot.
Jim Gaffigan Surprised he isnt bigger.
Anthony Clark His TV show is killing his career like Bob Saget did with Full House.
Brian Regan Wish he would put out a new CD. "The big yellow ones the sun"

There is another comedian I would like to hear, but I don't know his name. I read a comment he had made when I was taking a diversity class in college a few years back. The fellow is Mexican, and the quote that had me laughing so hard was, "I was surprised to find out that Batman WASN'T Mexican. The Batmobile is too nice a car for a white guy!"

I'm surprised there's no meniton of Seinfeld????? I was a BIG fan of his ever since his HBO show (WAY before the tv show).

But as far as "still performing", my friends and I try to see Brian Regan everytime he comes to Boston. He's definitely my favorite. (I've got my ticket for Dec. 3rd - Orpheum Theatre!!!)

p.s. I know a lot of people like Dane Cook, but for some reason he drive me INSANE! His jokes are funny, but I think it's his "I love myself/I'm hot shit" ego that turns me off too much.

I know what you mean, I love Dane Cook but for me it's Robin Williams. He's funny as hell sometimes but he is starting to annoy me more and more now.

Maybe it is there style that bothers you.

Another note on Dane Cook (who I really like)....prior to me seeing him on an ad for an upcoming tour, I thought he would have LOOKED less than a "punk" than he looked like.

That probably has to do with his (seemingly) anti-punk jokes. Than again maybe it's what he knows so he can let it flow.

Another quick question:
What do you guys think of Richard Belzer? I bought his CD ("Another Lone Nut") a couple of days ago and want to know what others think of it.

I saw Dane Cook on this most recent tour and he was less annoying to me, but I was talking more about his first "Comedy Central Presents..." - it seemed like he was trying too hard to be funny. Like I said, his jokes ARE funny, so I found his 'trying too hard' to be a kill-joy. Was he the one who used to do the Ronald Regan impressions (when Regan was pres.) and act like he had alzheimers?? If so, that guy was GREAT! He'd do that joke like: "Ronald Regan is in charge of the nuclear missiles in this country. Ronald Regan is like 80 and has his finger on the 'button' - my grandfather is 80 and we don't even let him use the remote to the tv."

I had forgotten Steve Martin, Richard Belzer and Robert Schimmel.

I would also like to add Mary Ellen Hooper to the list as well. I really like her routine about surviving a car wreck. Rhonda Shear was a pretty good comedienne as well (she now mainly does work on one of the shopping networks...I forget which.)

Also, the "Reagan's 80 and he has his finger on the button" joke was done by Dennis Miller, who used the joke on the first "Comic Relief" back in '86, as well as his "Off-White Album" 2 years later.
