I got mine saturday, so it's definitely coming soon.

I was surprised at how LOUD the 5.1 track is. Usually I have to turn the volume up a notch with Columbia titles, but with Underworld I actually had to turn it down a bit. The 5.1 track is awesome though and so is the movie. :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup:

KIMK,

I'm really stoked about getting this title.
So the soundtrack was awesome huh?
How did the gunshots sound on this one?
Did they have a lot of impact to them?

thanks

I very rarely go off of reviews and am glad that I didn't with this one too. I loved this movie, one of my top ten movies of the year. I thought they did a perfect job with it. It has everything,Violence, horror, action, drama, suspense and of course Kate! I will be buying and watching this one tomorrow!

Didn't see this theatrically so it will be a blind purchase. No need to rent this one. Kate in black leather, vampires and werewolfs, no need for anything else, I'm sold.

Peace Out~:D

Troy:

Yes the gunshots sounded just right, definitely nothing wrong with the 5.1 track, just a bit loud.

Watched it last night and LOVED IT! It's a great little Blade-style action/horror flick and actually has a decent plot with a pretty rich backstory! I skipped this in the theater, but I'd definitely go for a sequel. And of course, Kate in that outfit... MEOW!

But let's talk about what's really important: the sound. I set my receiver to -10 from reference before hitting play... and then the movie started. BOOM! Right at the beginning, there's a bass hit that made my windows rattle. My SVS produced some deep room-shaking low end countless times during this movie. In fact, this may be the loudest movie I've ever heard on my system. Can anyone tell me what the dialnorm is on this disc, because it sure as hell sounds like it doesn't have any!

The film sounded like that in the theater as well back in September. I knew it was going to be a good audio demo DVD. The film's okay, could have been better, but I do know that DVD fans will love its audio track.

I saw this film at the Drive-in this summer. I wasn't expecting much, given the reviews I'd read, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's exactly what it purports to be: a fun little genre film about vampires and werewolves duking it out. My wife and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Ron-P, I think it's well known around here that Kate belongs to me. .....What? NOBODY knows :)
Yeah as long as you take it for what it is, you won't be disappointed. I saw it 3 times in the theater. I just the genre. The film-style seems right up your alley. I'll be at BB at 10:00 A.M

Okay...

Hold on to your seatbelts.....

I bought this blindly solely based on the fact
that I am a collector of any new film that gets
decent box office exposure. Always want to have
a new DVD on hand to entertain company with.

By all rights, I should have skipped the purchase
of Underworld. Take a look at the critic
reviews and this one was all over the map. As many
critics there were who furiously panned this film,
there were just as many who loved it. It was truly
one of those situations where either you were gonna
love or hate this film.

So I popped the DVD in. Within the first 20
minutes I was ready to turn it off. Not only did
it look like mindless entertainment, but I was
totally confused by what the plot was all about
and who were the good guys vs. the bad guys.

But something clicked in seconds before I had the
chance to click the OFF button on my remote....

Suddenly, I found myself riveted to the screen.
I began to understand what was happening before me
to the point where I could just sit back and enjoy
the festival of fighting and carnage that was
happening before me.

An hour into the film I was thinking to myself,
This movie is friggin' great!

In short, I loved this film!

I would best describe Underworld as a
highly stylized vampire vs. warewolf film that
has its abundant share of edge-of-your-seat thrills.
It has all the elements of BLADE, THE MATRIX and
all those forbidden love story films all rolled
up in one. And no matter how many times you have
seen it all done before, somehow it works here.

The DVD transfer is immaculate. The entire film
takes place in the dark, and fortunately this
transfer brings out as much detail as possible.
Skin tones are dead-on accurate and everything
seems to be accented nicely by warm blue tones.

The audio is a real treat! This is one of those
soundtracks that begs for a subwoofer. If yours
has been lazy as of late, it will get a much needed
workout here. I found a lot of activity going on
within the rear soundstage.

No, this film doesn't succeed at being the best
Vampire film of its sort over the past few years,
but it does manage to succeed at being very
entertaining -- especially for someone like me
who is very critical of these kind of films.

Worth a rental for those who are cautious. Gamblers
may find a hefty payoff if they buy this blindly.

Glad to hear you loved it. This film is on my top ten list of the year. You are right, they made this movie work where others have failed. I thought that it had great action scenes,Matrix/Blade style but it also had a great story line and the whole feel of the movie was just too cool. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: for me!

Ronald E, thank you for your quick review. Man, I have sensed the "reviewer in you" waiting to explode. Your descriptions of this and OUTITW have been pretty passionate.

I'm excited and can't wait to get home and experience the audio track.

Ron,
I had a similar experience to yours when I saw it in the theater. I ended up having a ton of fun with the movie and it was one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while. A total surprise. Glad a lot of people here enjoyed it as much as I did. For those on the fence about watching it - definitely give it a shot.

for $15.99 i'm giving this a shot.
all i'm hoping is that it will be at least as good as resident Evil which was no classic, but was a reasonably entertaining HT experience.

My main 2 problems with the film are:

1. The main bad guy is a horrible actor.
2. The star-crossed lovers subplot never soars at all.

Overwise, the look/sound and production values of the film is pretty entertaining.
