Well, the book is getting terrible reviews and isn't exactly setting the New York Times bestseller list ablaze (it debuted at #6).

I think that pretty much proves that people just aren't interested, and the movie has the additional strike against it since it doesn't feature Anthony Hopkins and that's who 99% of the moviegoing population associate with this character.

I'm guessing that this movie will be a disappointment in every sense of the word, though it could be like "Hannibal", a well-made film that just happens to be based upon a terrible book.

It's obvious when you read the book that it's meant to be a movie before anything else, and it does give the impression that Harris is only in it for the money. That said, I'm sure the movie will be better than the book by virtue of the fact that the movie was planned first. Everything in the book is meant to be a movie, the book was made from the movie when it's usually the other way around. The book was mediocre at best, let's hope the movie is better.
