Well, the corrected version has found its way to some stores. I bought it at Fry's Electronics this past Tuesday and, of course, checked the running time and it clocks in at 83 minutes.

I think I would still feel leery about trying to buy the corrected release at a store, because there is still some conflicting information in circulation. In a thread at the Criterion Forum, one poster, on 12/16, said he bought the corrected copy at a store - he said the disc did indeed run 83 minutes, but the back cover was unchanged (still showed 73 minutes). Another poster, posting earlier today, said he received his corrected copy directly from Lionsgate, with a new back cover, showing 83 minutes.

Where can one buy a copy of this corrected version? Amazon still lists this as unavailable. They have it at Deep Discount, but the listing still states 73 minutes.
