The characters' dialog in a dramatic presentation should always be addressed to each other and not to the audience. TV/movie references are always addressed to the audience [WINK-WINK-WINK], as far as I can tell.
I disagree. Crighton is dealing with things he doesn't understand the only way he knows how. Obviously, you don't hang around many fannish people. They make pop culture references all the time. :D

Kinda of topic. But, I thought that one race that suffered from the Phage in Voyager was one of the creepiest/scariest of all Trek bad guys. If you think about what they did it is very sick. Not only stealing organs, but sometimes their faces. :eek:
