MGM's MIDNITE MOVIES (A Comprehensive List Of All Movies Midnite) (1 Viewer)

Necroposting here. I am very close to completing the entire collection! Just a few titles left (Wild in the Streets and Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow). I have purchased them all used at local stores, so it has taken time to get this many.

Oddly enough, I just picked up a couple more of these this week and was once again reminded of what a great series it was.

Don't have all of them, but I think I have most -- certainly most of the ones I'd want.

I've been going throuh these again after a few years of sitting on the shelf. I was particularly surprised that I never noticed Dr. Phibes Rises Again! appears to be in the 2.0:1 AR. Should be 1.85:1, and states so on the package, but there's too much black bar top and bottom for 1.85. I'd like to see a region A Blu-ray of course.

If I remember correctly, Dr. Phibes Rises Again! is available on Blu as part of The Vincent Price Collection II from Shout/Scream Factory.

Every movie forum should have some kind of MIDNITE MOVIES list. These were great releases, with a great banner, and along with the requisite trailer, they gave us those cool factoids on the back of the DVD case. As of this posting the best place to still get some of these movies is at http://www.oldies.com/


Great list! Im writing a in depth article about the Midnite movie line. Can you or anyone else on here provide a timeline of sorts as to the peak/decline of this line. Any help would be amazing. Thanks!

Wikipedia: Midnite Movies is a line of B movies released first on VHS then on DVD by MGM then later Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The line was begun by MGM in March 2001 following its acquisition of Orion Pictures, which bought out American International Pictures. AIP had a library of B movies from the 1950s and 1960s that were science fiction, horror, and exploitation films. The DVDs were first released as single films but most later releases would be double features. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment later became owners of the MGM library and continued the Midnite Movies line with distributor 20th Century Fox.





The collection is mostly made up of AIP films (including most of Roger Corman's and Vincent Price's horror movies) but also includes some Hammer Horror, Amicus, United Artists, and Empire Pictures movies as well.
