Exactly Jim. I fasttracked this film to see if I wanted to buy the whole box or not. What this soap opera has to do with film noir is beyond me.

Metropolis (1927)

I have 3 different versions of Lang's Metropolis, including the much-maligned Giorgio Moroder version, which I like a lot, probably because I'm a bigger fan of Moroder's than I am of Lang. One version of Metropolis I own (on vhs) is 20 mins longer than the restored dvd, weird.

Rankings

1)Metropolis (1927)
2)M
3)Return of Frank James
4)Western Union
5)Moonfleet

Rating Average 3 out of 5

Whoa, Joe...I thought you'd watched METROPOLIS (1927)?! In any case, you've got MUCH catching up to do:D!

Lang is one of my favorite directors and the reason I haven't done this checklist yet is because there are still way too many Lang DVDs out there I need to add to my collection; besides, TCM USA has shown a few more of his films I haven't watched yet and, hopefully, I'll get the chance to catch up with those in the future:)!

Updated with Hangmen Also Die.

A good film, but just on the other side of a purchase for me. A tad too long and too slow.

saw the long version of Spies, I was not impressed, boring and drawn out, poorly paced and nonsensical, I can barely remember a damn thing about the film and it's only been a few weeks since I saw it.

Die Nibelungen: Siegfried *** out of ****

Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge **1/2 out of ****

Finally got around to watching these - I've had the DVDs for over a year. :D

I wanted to like these more than I did. There are things about these films to admire, but good God they drag on forever, especially Kriemhild's Revenge.
