Which Dvd player is everyone buying at this time. I heard that I should stay away from Panasonic at this time since they really went cheap on their players. I'm also looking for a progressive scan player. Any advice would be appreciated.

Some of the good top-rated but now discontinued models (Panasonic RP82,XP30,XP50) are selling on EBAY now, even some are "new and unopened" too.

i would definitely second the vote for the panasonic rp82 model, which can be found on ebay. as well, denon's lines are fantastic as they use the same faroudja chip [found in the early panasonic lines mentioned in the last post] - known as one of the best progressive chips in the business.

What chip set does Pioneer use for their progressive scan players.

Pioneer uses their own proprietary de-interlacer chip, not one of the good high-end chips like Faroujda or Silicon Image. Go for Denon to get the better chips.
