Hi,

I have a living room which is 24ft wide x 26ft long x 24 high (cathedral ceiling). I'm also stuck with having satellites high on the walls (9ft up and about 2 ft from the slanted ceiling). What would be the best best budget satellites/satellites and sub for this setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Aesthetics is very important as to the looks of these speakers.
Looked into the orb audio and omnisat v2, but I'm not sure these are the best decisions.

Thanks in advance!

Jason

Satellite speakers will never be adequate for a room that size; it is going to be difficult to fill an area that large with solid sound with small-ish speakers unless you get higher sensitivity ones and the Omnis and Orbs aren't that sensitive. So when you say "budget" what exactly does that mean, since it means something different to everyone. You are also going to need a decent sub to fill a room that size as well; the high ceiling is going to be an issue in particular for bass, as having nearly square dimensions is never a good thing for solid bass reproduction. How about some ON-wall speakers rather than satellites? Such as the offerings from Axiom here

Thanks for the reply, I'm looking at less than $250 per speaker. On the wall is fine, I just need it to blend into my white walls to keep with the modern design. I will need something that can be bracket mounted so they can tilt/pan as they will be on the far side's of the wall and ~9ft off the ground. As for a subwoofer, what would be recommended for about and 11,000 cubic ft room? I've heard the Dayton kits are pretty good.

With the Dayton kits I think you'll need the 15" kit to fill that room well. From SVS, the PB-12 Plus or the HSU VTF-3 Mk3, possibly the High Output.

From Axiom, you could go with one of the smaller bookshelf speakers as they would be easy to bracket mount. You can get a wide variety of finishes to suit your tastes with them.

Ascend Acoustics would also be another option, the CBM-170SE has mounting holes on the back already. They have a sensitivity of 91dB and they come in white (see finish options) http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages...70/cbm170.html These are some very good sounding speakers; a friend of mine has them mounted on the wall and it seemed to work well. Well within your target price too.

SVS also offers some good small speakers with built in mounting holes as well and in white or silver they are discounted, then you can add whichever sub to the mix you need (contact them, they will give you honest recommendations for your room size). http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_white.cfm These are lower sensitivity, but they can also handle a ton of power. Your room is larger than the room I heard them in, so you might need to consider a 7.1 setup vs a 5.1 to get good coverage or use 3 SCSs up front rather than SBSs.

Go to a local dealer, not BB or CC, and speak with a sales person. Most of the major brands have speaker lines that will work. As John stated, small speakers won't give you the best performance. Good thing is there are a number of really good sounding speakers in your price range. Check on Paradigm and Definitive Technology.
