Chico & The Man Coming To Dvd!

In a flyer inside the Gilligan's Island Season 2 DVD, there's a mention of discounts for buying multiple WB TV Sets.

They mentioned 'Chico' but made no mention as to when it's coming.

I did a search, but saw no discussion of this topic. Apologies if there's a thread already.

It's been mentioned inside other threads, I think, but I just searched and didn't see one with this topic.

Here's my write-up of the story at TSoD.

I just watched this show for the first time over the weekend on TV Land as part of the WB 50 Year Anniversary and it is a hell of a show. Has there been any more word on when this is coming out?

The show also airs on AmericanLife TV (formerly GoodLife TV) on Saturday evenings.

I'd buy every season with Freddie Prinze in it.

Sadly I don't get AmericanLife TV on Direct TV, I just looked on the site and it seems like they carry a lot of the shows which aired over the weekend on TV Land.

American Life appeals to Baby Boomers, which makes it unattractive to cable companies. Remember, all that matters, is 18 to 35, 18 to 35. We Boomers should go sit in the corner and be quiet.

I'm interested, but (maybe aside from S1) I probably won't buy until all the seasons are out (including Chico and the Man without Chico).

American Life also airs Chico and other shows UNCUT, that's why I love it, I'm not a baby boomer, but it's quickly become one of my favorite channels

Does this mean there will be no Season 1? I have never in my life seen this show but I was planning on blind buying Season 1 but in no way shape or form am I gonna risk my money on a best of comp with poor cover art.

What's with this "Television Favorites" thing?

Is this it? No season sets? Just 6 episodes? Bummer!

Re: Chico & The Man Coming To Dvd!

Does anyone if the TV Favorites edition sold well enough that there will hope for seasonal DVD releases?

This was a great show and 6 episodes just weren't enough.

Re: Chico & The Man Coming To Dvd!

Excluding "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Night Court" (which had at least a single season released prior to the "Television Favorites" releases), the only shows that have "graduated" from Warner's "TV Favorites" line to full season 1 sets so far are "Cheyenne" and "F-Troop," both of which will be released in June. There's been no word on any of the others, which include "Chico," "Maverick," "Welcome Back Kotter," and "The Drew Carey Show."

Re: Chico & The Man Coming To Dvd!

Are this and Maverick the only 2 shows that they did a sampler set on that they haven't put out full sets on? Warner really does have to start licensing out. They have so many shows, both of their own and from their MGM/Turner merger, that need to see a release.

I think "Alice" was the other "Television Favorites" release that didn't "graduate" to at least one full season release.

With Sanford & Son and Good Times out now, then it makes me wonder if they are going to release this show. I like the show, but, it went down hill after Freddie Prinze died. The kid just did not cut it for me. I did like Scatman Crothers and i remember him from the harlem globe trotters cartoons along with hong kong phoey.

Sanford and Son and Good Times were Sony shows.

Chico and the Man are WB.

Believe it or not, it's even more difficult, it seems, for a show to escape the WB Vaults than it is to escape the Sony vaults.

Maybe, one day, the WB Archive program will expand to include a lot of older and cult TV Shows, but for right now, don't expect Chico to show up.
