On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the Bond film I most want on Blu-ray.

I would love to have You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever, as well.

The above are among the originating Bond films, and should have been released on Blu-ray a couple of years ago with the other originating films.

I really hate the way EON has handled the release of these films.

I wouldn't mind owning The Living Daylights on Rlu-ray, either, because of Timothy Dalton's defining presence as Bond.

Although I own all the Bond films on Special Edition DVD and Ultimate Collection DVD, I'm only interested in Blu-rays of the originating Bonds with Connery and Lazenby.

I wonder why MGM cannot comment on what their plan is for the titles and what time frame to expect them. It's been over 2+ years since the last Bond blu ray titles were released.

Does anyone have a contact at MGM Home Video? It would be good to let them know that a lot of us that we would like to get the other Bond titles on blu ray and if they would simply communicate an official statement with a plan and time frame we would then know when to expect them.

Seems like it's pretty simple, but to not communicate anything after 2+ years seems odd to me.

How about it MGM and Fox?

I think it's pretty clear how it's going to play out - half the remaining titles will be released in the fall of 2012 to coincide with the theatrical release of Bond 23, with the rest coming when Bond 23 is released on video a few months later.

I still have hope for a some titles at the holidays this year with the remaining when the film comes out and a complete collection when then new one is released on DVD/Blu-ray. MGM needs the cash it will generated for the Holidays.

Yeah. It's just crazy that the masters and audio work for the Bond blu ray's was completed in 2005.

It's been frustrating to wait so long for the releases. Especially since the last round was March of 2009.

I relate.

If the remaining titles had been released in 2005, I would have bought them all.

After I saw Casino Royale in 2006, I found myself re-evaluating my enthusiasm, and I stopped caring about the later and newer Bond films.

So they've already blown it, so far as I'm concerned.

Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits had an update on the Bond films in his 6/4 post.

20th Century Fox/MGM - The Star Wars Saga (9/16), West Side Story (TBA late 2011), Patton (with updated transfer - TBA late 2011), more classic Bond (2012), more Rodgers & Hammerstein (2012), The Abyss (TBA 2012), True Lies (TBA 2012)

Not the news I was looking for, especially since the work on the Bond films has been done since 2005 and the last wave of Bond blu ray's was 2+ years ago!!!

So they are going to wait until October or November 2012 to release the others or at least another wave?

There's a few other non Bond MGM blu ray titles that I have been wanting to pick up. Perhaps I (along with many others) should wait till 2012 to do so?

Tim, thanks for the heads-up about the Barry Nelson Casino Royale.

The MGM timetable, though frustrating, isn't surprising. They wouldn't release these Blus without having a new Bond movie to promote.

The other thing is that the bankruptcy and the surrounding financial mess at MGM pretty much stopped everything cold for at least two years over there. Had this not happened, you would have seen a new Bond film out by last year, along with the other Blus, which would fit in with the earlier timetable. I'm just glad that they're proceeding apace with Bond 23 with Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, which bodes well for the movie, and for us.

I understand. It's just really frustrating that the legal and BK issues are behind them, yet they are going to wait another year and a half for more Bond on blu ray releases.

I'm excited about Bond 23, but at this point I'm more excited about getting the other 9 Bond films on blu ray. Just because of the delays and the agony of the last 3+ years with MGM.

In terms of blu rays, the other 9 Bond films are at the top of my list. The minute they are available I will be picking them up.

Hopefully MGM doesn't continue to draw things out with the Bond blu rays when Bond 23 is released in November 2012....

I would love to see the research comparison facts that show how much better a catalog series title sells with a new movie release than without.

In the case of Bond I don't think it would make a lot of difference. But again I don't have any facts to support this.
