Wow.
Can I assume that they took a MAJOR detour from the graphic novel plotline?

I don't know if I'd call it "major". The show has taken TONS of detours up to now. Yes, this was a change...but, Lori would have eventually died anyhow. I think they are simplifying numbers for an upcoming event...EricSchulz said:Wow.

It might be hard to believe but in my opinion, it's toned down from the comics. The events surrounding Lori's death in the comics (events which I don't want to mention because it's a likely spoiler for the TV show) would have been too horrendous for TV. If they had just adapted the comic book to live action, I think it would have been too much for alot of viewers. I'm not saying that they're holding back either because I think it was the right call- seeing something terrible in a comic book is rough but seeing it portrayed by actual people would have probably even grossed out a jaded gorehound like myself.EricSchulz said:Wow.

Hmm - Now I am going to need a PM with those details. I have not read the comics and while I wouldn't say never, do not see that actually happening.Originally Posted by TravisR /t/324448/walking-dead-season-3/60#post_3998333

I'm not sure what you were looking for leading up to that scene. I'd argue that Michonne is completely geared up for survival and she will put down any Walker in the vicinity as an (almost) conditioned response without needing a reason beyond the only good Walker is a brain-deprived Walker. Seems like a prudent characteristic in the Zombie Apocalypse even if the scene functioned as a showcase for her whup-ass skills with a katana. Admittedly, the only reason to free the Walkers is to probably get a little sword time in, as she could have easily pierced them through the door to their cell. Maybe she was pissed off at the Governor, Andrea and being there and decided to take it out on some Walkers. For the Michonne half - we know nothing of where her head is at so her bout of zombie killing is totally gratuitous and almost pornographic no matter how cool the kills may seem.
It's a nice theory but the show has not established that. More scenes between Andrea and Michonne when they were on their own for 8 months was a missed opportunity to establish Michonne's character.Walter Kittel said:I'm not sure what you were looking for leading up to that scene. On "Talking Dead" last night, they had the director/co-exec producer for the episode, Greg Nicotero, on the show and he verified that was Lori who was consumed by the zombie, to the point of "meat coma" (my term), and if you look closely, there are strands of Lori's hair around the zombie's mouth and face area.joshEH said:Any one else get that the fat zombie Rick killed at the end was in the room where Lori died, and the reason it was so bloated and unable to move....was that it basically ate all that was left of Lori? I would have loved it if Rick had cut open the zombie, and fished out a license plate.
