Personally I can't remember too much, only these few ones I quite like:
It's a Wonderful Life
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
A Christmas Story
A Christmas Carol
Scrooged
White Christmas
And I have found a Top10 Christmas movie list, I going to try some of them out.;)

Yeah, a top five is much easier:
"It's A Wonderful Life"
"Scrooge"
"A Christmas Carol"
"March of the Wooden Soldiers"
"The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" (yeah, it's a cartoon, but it rocks!)

I just got my favorite A Christmas Story on blu-ray in from Netflix last night, and it doesn't play! Hopefully they'll send a replacement by Christmas...

Love, Actually is near the top of my new Christmas movies list. It didn't get the best reviews, but damn, it's one of those films that grows on me. And the sequence where the kid runs through the airport.. I LOVE everything about that. I do wish that they had dropped the plot about the trip to America, but it weaves together so many stories about different aspects of Love, and I did enjoy it ;)

My other Christmas films:

A Christmas Story, It's Christmas, Charlie Brown, Die Hard

And films that have nothing to do at all with Christmas, but films I watch every Christmas:

Sound of Music, Ben Hur, Dr. Strangelove, Stephen King's "The Stand" (mini-series), Savannah Smiles

I always watch Die Hard and Christmas Story.
My family, when I was a kid, always watched Christmas Vacation.

WHITE CHRISTMAS is such a gyp. I checked it out once and it had practically nothing to do with the holiday.

MIRACLE ON 34th STREET (1947 of course) is one of my favorites.

I don't know if I can do a Top 10, but I can do a Top 5.

5.) "Scrooged". Easily my favorite adaptation of "A Christmas Carol", it's a wonderful combination of show-business satire, and black humor. Bill Murray as Frank Cross does a great job, whether it be reciting funny lines or delivering a sterling monologue about what Christmas is really about. Oh, and the soundtrack is wonderful, too.

4.) "Lethal Weapon". It may not seem like a Christmas movie, but from the beginning, with "Jingle Bell Rock" playing over a pan of the California night to the end where Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Murtaugh (Danny Glover) cement their friendship to the song "I'll Be Home For Christmas", this is a movie that puts me in the Christmas spirit, and when it comes to snow, "GET THAT SHIT OFF MY LAWN!"

3.) "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. My favorite scene is the one where Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) applies a special coating to the bottom of a sled, and then takes a ride that seems more like an action scene than a portrait of Christmas frivolity. As a Wal-Mart employee, I find it hilarious that Clark ends up in front of one after his long ride is done.

2.) "Christmas Eve On Sesame Street". I'm going with an oldie here, and I don't know if it could be considered an actual movie, but I loved it growing up. I'm a particular fan of the song "Keep Christmas With You"...Truly moving with simple, but not simplistic lyrics.

1.) "Die Hard". All I can say is: Christmas is the time to say "Yippie-Ki-Yay, Motherfucker!"

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs!

In no particular order:
  1. It's A Wonderful Life
  2. Die Hard
  3. Lethal Weapon
  4. A Christmas Carol (George C Scott version)
  5. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Loved the inclusion of Young Sherlock Holmes on someone's list above - I first saw around Christmastime when it was released, and considering that it takes place in winter, it's a natural to watch when the days are short and the air is cold.
