Tetsuo Iron Man Happy Together abstain (Cure great but Victim) abstain (Yojimbo excellent but no Red Lion) abstain (too long since I've seen Street Fighter, no DM) High and Low (but BSW is excellent too)
My votes Akira Abstain to avoid a tie - would've voted for Chungking Express Abstain - No Cure but Victim is very good Yojimbo Street Fighter (1974) High and Low
Akira over Tetsuo: The Iron Man 4-2
Happy Together over Chungking Express 3-2
Yojimbo over Red Lion by default
Street Fighter (1974) over Drunken Master (1978) 3-1
man, i really picked a lousy tournament (only cuz' i'm abstaining from everything) to start out with...
abstain no The Bride with White Hair ----------------------------------------- abstain neither --------------------------------------- abstain no Robot Carnival --------------------------------------- Raise the Red Lantern -------------------------------------- abstain neither ------------------------------------ abstain neither
raise the red lantern (the greatest Chinese film ever made)
abstain neither ---------------------------------------- abstain no Woman in the Dunes --------------------------------------- Legend of the Drunken Master (1994) --------------------------------------- abstain neither --------------------------------------- abstain neither --------------------------------------- abstain no Kagemusha
abstain - neither abstain - Love Woman in the Dunes, no Dreams Legend of the Drunken Master (China II is also good) abstain - Odishon excellent, no Onibaba abstain - Tokyo Story is one of the best films ever made, but no Rhapsody
Ran - Kagemusha very good, but fairly low on my Kurosawa list.
abstain - no Battle Royale Woman in the Dunes abstain - no China II abstain - no Onibaba (and I'm not sure why you are not listing Audition under the more commonly known English title???) Tokyo Story Kagemusha
abstain (no Battle Royale) abstain (no Woman in the Dunes) Legend of the Drunken Master abstain (no Onibaba) abstain (no Tokyo Story, but it's next on my Netflix queue) Ran
I just read up on Battle Royale, sounds really interesting. Too bad there's no Region 1 release, not even on VHS.
