I just picked up the blu-ray disc of "The Sand Pebbles".

    The film looks great.

But the opening menu screen appears to have a god-awful scratch on the left side of the screen.

    Has anyone else noticed that?

I'm surprised that Fox didn't clean that up.

It's intentional. supposed to make the screen look like a painting

Intentional or not, it's an eyesore.

At least I know I didn't get a faulty disc.

    Thanks for the reply.

Well, at least you have another three hours of so runtime remaining of this great movie to forget that eyesore.

It's been available for some time here in Spain, at least, as "El Yang-Tse en llamas".
