This is my official list of DVDs that were originally in snappers and are now sold in keepcases. This does NOT include movies like Rebel Without A Cause or GoodFellas which was a 1 disc snapper and is now a 2 disc keepcase. Almost all of these are the exact same release, just a different case. This also does not include movies that were never released in a snapper like Dial M For Murder or Terminator 3.
Please E-mail me if you see a release that has been converted.

Giant was in a digipak, as were Saturday Night Fever and Grease. Also, The Royal Tenenbaums has always been in an Alpha double-disc case, but inside a cardboard slipcase. A lot of the titles you list were released in digipaks, not snappers.

Also, Looney Tunes: Back in Action (Widescreen) is in a keepcase at Hollywood Video.

Now Voyager will be keepcased as part of the Bette Davis box in June, The Thin Man as part of the Thin Man box in August, and Grand Hotel as part of the Garbo box in September.

Patrick, I know Giant was in a digipak, but it is now in a keepcase in the James Dean Collection. Saturday Night Fever and Grease have both converted to keepcase as well. Check WalMart. I know The Royal Tenenbaums was in a double Aplha Case, but at Hollywood Video, they have a special deal where they don't have digipaks, the companies send them the movies in regular cases. Whenever they put them for sale used, you can pick them up. This is the case with movies like E.T., Amelie, Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List and others.

I am Sam has been re-released in a keepcase. I saw it in late February at Best Buy and didn't pick it up. I should have, since I haven't seen it since.

Can someone confirm whether or not Goonies has be re-released in a keepcase? It's listed at most sites as a keepcase, but I've only seen the snapper version in stores.

I think the titles in the new Bogie & Bacall Signature Collection are now simply new packaging releases of former snappers AND are being sold individually as such.

Key Largo, To Have & Have Not, Dark Passage & The Big Sleep.

If you go to Amazon.us, theyve listed specifically "THE BIG SLEEP in Keepcase"
It also had a "not yet released" and the pic of the cover did not have that tell-tale rounded edge on the right side of the cover.
so be carefull-they still have the snapper version in stock, too-as I hear they are trying to unload them on the unsuspecting buyers of the box.

I'm curious about some of the movies that only seem to be available in those crappy snap cases, but they also have box sets. i.e. Lethal Weapon 1-3 (Directors Cuts), Nightmare on Elm Street, Dirty Harry, etc. Are the box sets just filled with the same lousy snap cases or do those have better cases in them?

Both WILDCATS and NIGHT SHIFT from Warner have new Keep cases. The NIGHT SHIFT artwork is really awful.
