The FOX Logo, why can it sound so different on different discs? (1 Viewer)

Different versions aside, when catalog titles are restored, the logo audio may be in poor condition, and instead of stealing a nice new clean version from some other project, I'll bet they just use the one that is mixed with the feature that is being remastered. Also, sometimes the logo audio is cross-faded into the feature score/audio- so it may not be easy to just swap out for a better sounding version.

Yeah, case in point the Cinemascope version on Star Wars which has always sounded like it was passed through a tin can telephone on its way to the lt/rt, 5.1, and EX printmasters.

D.

That's one of my favorites as well... Just piano and drums.

Of course, I might be a little bit biased on that one. :-P

This is a really interesting thread.

I always like how many versions of the 20th Century Fox logo there was....

Some are muted and dull others are sharp and/or bombastic. The subtleties are astounding!

DD5.1 and DTS sound basically equally as good. Sometimes DTS seems it has more bass, but is that good or bad? Alot have been way to boomy.I have heard some very bad DTS dvd's. Also if it is a dts disc, and there is no dts logo in the end credits,it really doesn't sound that good. To artificial.

BTW, finally checked my Speed DVD, and it did have the new CGI Fox logo.

So, looks like Ronald had it right and both us Joels were wrong.
