STR-DN1000 video problem (1 Viewer)

I just bought sony str-dn1000 receiver and somehow there are 2 problem with my receiver. Not sure if the problem is related to the misconfiguration or the hardware fault.

First problem is the I cant display the GUI menu on the screen. My avr is connected to the tv using HDMI. I tried all possible combination to display it on tv but still no luck.

Another is somehow the avr does not upscale my analog composite video input. But strangely, the audio is fine.

I'm not sure if the problem is because of the TV, or the HDMI cable, or the avr itself.

Can anybody help?

Hey...I have the same receiver...

The GUI does show on screen, but you have to hit the DISPLAY button on the remote. If you have your manual...check pg 16 i think..

As far as upscaling...i think it does the job...only to 1080i, but the quality of what u get also depends on the quality of the source material to begin with...
