On another newsboard, I had this pointed out to me:

Please note the end of the aricle
Earlier this year TNN secured the telecast rights to three "Star Trek" series and five movies for the next ten years. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" repeats can be seen on the cable network Monday - Friday at 8 p.m. and at 11 p.m.
TNN will begin to telecast "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" in fall 2004 and "Star Trek: Voyager" in late 2006.
I'm getting a real "No Buffy for R1" vibe here!
Could that be the case? No DS9 DVD for three more years?

12 months? O.K. But three years? :frowning:

Since these shows are already out, more or less complete on VHS, and have been in syndication for years, I'm guessing that Paramount is free to do what they want. They also stated in their press releases that the other 3 shows would closely follow the preceding, so I'm guessing they'll finish off Next Gen, wait 2 months and start DS9

Besides, you can always tune in to watch that big black message bar at the bottom, in addition to the squished picture. As I keep telling people, sometimes I look at Patrick Stewart wearing that red-and-black Starfleet uniform and, so help me, I draw a blank and forget what show I'm watching. Not so with TNN; on that network I always know what's playing. TNN is so helpful. They need to put more stuff in that message bar--maybe even make it larger, while adding animation to the TNN logo (that way, I can remember what channel I'm watching).

I'm not entirely sure why they have anything on the screen EXCEPT The Black Bar. Don't they know that everyone tunes in to TNN just for that?

Interesting to note that when WWF RAW is on the bar is not there.
