This doesn't have anything to do with spiders, but the thought of shipping them as 'livestock' reminds me of my old homebrewing days. A lot of folks would send off samples of homebrew to competitions around the country. Some folks reported difficulties with UPS over shipping beer. So, voila! People began shipping "yeast samples" around
