Probably squashes the rumor that Bluepoint's next big project was a Tomb Raider 1-3 remake/collection.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider leaked a couple years ago when someone spotted a developer doing some work for it on a train on his laptop. I'm not surprised that it's release is going to time out well with the home video release of the new movie. What did surprise me was that they're actually releasing it on all the platforms at once, versus an Xbox-first kind of release.

I didn't hear that rumor about Bluepoint. I wonder what they're actually working on?

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, and its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, were both developed by Crystal Dynamics and I consider them to be top-notch action adventure games, so I was excited about this announcement (if not surprised). In terms of characterization and polish, the first two games remind me a lot of the Uncharted series, though I might like these even better. If any of you haven't played them, I recommend both... they're very good.

Main development of this new game will be handed over to Eidos Montreal, which worked on the (rather poor) Thief reboot in 2014, as well as the last Deus Ex game, which I haven't played but people seemed to like. I'm cautiously optimistic.

It's a shame the recent movie was received so poorly, kind of casts a shadow over this announcement.

Nixxes Software Developing PC Version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider ​
