Randy Meisner, Bassist, Vocalist and Founding Member of the Eagles, Dies at 77

He sang lead on their first big hit, "Take It to the Limit," after starting out with Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band and Poco.

Me too. Have seen the band live 8 times over all these decades, and had the pleasure of seeing all of the other members (6 of the 7) with the band except for Randy Meisner. He had been unable to perform for quite a while. A great voice he had with many great tunes in and out of this band.

They are prepping a farewell tour, and I bet they work in a Meisner tribute.

Randy had been Ill for sometime so I kind of expected this sooner than later. Still it makes you sad when the other shoe drops. ‘Try and Lofe Again” remains my fav song by him with its transcendent vocal, melody and release. It’s a bright moment on an often bleak album.

My guess is Take It To The Limit is the band’s biggest hit that didn’t feature Frey or Henley on lead vocal. RIP, Randy.
