I wouldn't assume Hollywood Records will be releasing these in America at all. I'd be shocked if they did!

I'm not sure who Queen is actually signed with now in the US. They left EMI in England for Universal Music (or some subsidiary). The same CDs are being released in Japan where they were on EMI-Japan but now are listed as Universal-Japan. I'll do some research after work today!

They are still with Hollywood Records for North American releases.

Looks like they lost those crappy "ruined by Rick Rubin" tracks. Those were all a total waste.

It was announced this week that the re-issues ARE being released by Hollywood Records in the US, starting this May. (I think I might cancel my UK pre-orders now.)

And to kick off the 40th anniversary series, Queen are releasing "Keep Yourself Alive"/"Son And Daughter" for this year's Record Store Day (last year was a US CD release of "Queen's First EP").

Well, I decided to keep my UK import orders just to check them out. The sound on Queen is light years ahead of the '91 versions, and the demos are interesting takes on some of the tracks. Lyrics are included, as are liner notes for the bonus tracks, although some extensive liner notes for the entire recording would have been a very welcome addition. (To see how these anniversary editions should be done, check out the ABBA UK reissues, with one disc of music [original LP/bonus tracks] and one DVD with live/TV show performances and LP/single photo galleries.)


Queen 2 is visually packaged like the original LP: disc one is "black CD", disc two is "white CD". Again, nice bonus tracks, including both the B-side version of "See What A Fool I've Been" along with a remixed demo version. If you ever get the chance to hear the entire '75 Christmas show with the live version, it is one of their strongest live performances ever! Including "White Queen" from that show begs the question---why not release the whole show commercially? Also, I find it hard to believe that there are not more demos/early versions available to release (like Fleetwood Mac did with "Rumours"). Seriously, these could probably have warranted three-disc sets with all that's available but unreleased!


EDIT; The BBC version of "Nevermore" is VASTLY superior to the actual studio recording!

As of this week, all 15 deluxe remasters from Queen are available individually in the US, I picked up the last 5 this past Friday at Best Buy. I can only hope their plans for their live material this year ends up looking/sounding as good.
