I plan on purchasing a widescreen TV within a day or two. I have a progressive scan DVD player that I have used with an HDTV RPTV in the past with excellent results. However, I have never tried using the DVD player in non-progressive-scan mode. Assuming a TV has component inputs but is not an HDTV, will it accept the progressive scan output of my DVD player and enhance image quality? I do not currently have a regular television to test.

But the player can send out an interlaced signal which can be displayed on an interlaced monitor.
