I am not sure but I doubt you can build or buy a HTPC that you can then use to access your HD DVRs. There may be some third party software that allows you to do this but I have never heard of any. The only way, that I know of, is to build or buy 2 or 3 HTPCs and network them together to replace your HD DVRs. Then drop your HD DVRs, get a regular digital cable box and use the HTPC to control them.

Alas - - you're kinda confirming my worst fears. My cable company doesn't even provide a "regular digital cable box" as far as I know. They only offer two choices - - the standard def. plain vanilla box, or the HD, digital, DVR box. Just curious - - is it any different in larger metropolitan areas where you have a choice of cable companies? (or do you actually have a choice in even the largest metropolitan areas where there are multiple cable companies doing business?)
