Today, I viewed the German BD release in its entirety which should be identical to US release as it's region free from Paramount. It looked very good!

I don't trust screen caps.
Least of all Beaver's screen caps. They're notoriously unreliable!
Yesterday, I wanted to post something in this thread and retracted my comment.

These two replies pretty much hit upon what I wanted to say...

Listen...

I have nothing against DVD BEAVER. We have been friends of theirs for
many, many years.

However, I think that the site really has done a disservice of sorts to this
format over the years. Their screencaps have caused more unnecessary
uproars about what may or may not exist in a Blu-ray transfer.

You are essentially scrutinizing over one or a few single frames. Nobody
does that when viewing a Blu-ray.

And, not fully knowing the science behind how screen shots are taken,
I would have to ask if the source the screenshot has been taken from has
been properly calibrated or not. Should a monitor be calibrated, or, since the
screenshot is from a digital source would it not matter?

...and again, I am not trying to knock DVD BEAVER. If you want to put your
faith in screen shots rather than waiting for an actual review of the Blu-ray
itself, that is fine. I just don't subscribe to the science behind providing
screenshots as being a biblical representation of the disc itself.

When in doubt, there's no harm in waiting.---------------
What you do with your money is your business. Anyhow, your comment prompted me to finally watch the German BD I bought several months ago. I had a great time revisiting this western.

I'm not putting my faith in DVD Beaver's screen caps, I've cancelled a pre-order and am waiting because that review and those screen caps caused my faith in the Blu-ray to fade. If the consensus among informed reviewers is that DNR and EE have not been over used then I'll hopefully have time to reconsider my reckless action.
